Dr. Andrew Holzman and Washington Nationals Ace Pitcher John Lannan
I was referred to Dr Holzman by the Washington Nationals' team eye doctor, Dr. Smithson. I definitely wanted the best surgeon who would be very careful and make sure everything was perfect. Dr Holzman at TLC came very highly recommended. I felt totally comfortable through the entire process as Dr Holzman's confidence and skill let me easily relax. It was incredibly easy. My eyesight is 20/15 now and I can't believe how much better i can see than before surgery. This was a GREAT decision for me and i am really looking forward to the up-coming baseball season with my new eyesight.

Dr. Andrew Holzman with Major League Soccer Star Alecko Eskandarian of LA Galaxy
Dr. Holzman, I just want to thank you and your staff for taking great care of me when I recently had LASIK surgery at your TLC office. As a pro soccer player, my vision is extremely important and directly affects my performance on the field. Just like anyone else, I had questions about LASIK surgery and made sure I did my research before choosing to go forward with it. After wearing contact lenses and glasses for most of my life, I decided LASIK was the best option and have to admit the results have been fantastic. I am able to see clearer than ever before and haven't had to worry about the frustrations of managing my contact lenses. This has helped improve my quality of life in that I no longer have had to worry about my eyesight, both on and off the field. Thank you TLC!

Jen Weigel, OD, FAAO - "My how things are a changing at TLC Tyson's Corner this summer! Our brand new, world-class clinic and surgical facility is now conveniently located in the Hilton Worldwide Headquarters building. I am also extremely proud to be the newest addition to Dr. Andrew Holzman's select TLC team as the new Clinical Director. Together, we will provide a first-class refractive experience for all of our valued current and future patients. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. I then graduated Cum Laude from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, in 2004. Recognizing the value of specialized training, I then completed a competitive Residency in Ocular Disease Management at Omni Eye Specialists in Denver, CO, in 2005. During my residency training, I worked closely with ophthalmology sub-specialists and optometrists to enhance my skills in disease evaluation and care, including an emphasis on dry eye management. I have since practiced optometry in a number of different settings, including a non-profit clinic, a refractive surgery center, and most recently, private practice. The thing that I find most exciting about returning to the refractive surgery arena is the opportunity to join Dr. Andrew Holzman's elite team. I'll be working with a truly gifted corneal surgeon. (You should see those awesome Lasik flaps!) Plus, you should experience the team's positive vibes for yourself. From start to finish, everyone here is honestly dedicated to and excited about helping each patient achieve a solid refractive surgery outcome. Outside of patient care, I currently serve on the Virginia Optometric Association's Board of Trustees and as Membership Committee Chair. This year, I was selected as the VOA's Young Optometrist of the Year. I am also a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and have served as a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Since moving to Northern Virginia in 2006, I have been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Manassas, and after completing a two-year term as President there, I now look forward to joining the Tyson's Corner Club soon. My hobbies include cooking, gardening, reading, and walking my feisty Cairn Terrier, Pepper. I live in Fairfax County with my husband, a professor at George Mason University."

Elizabeth (Lyzzy) Cruz is the glue that holds the office together. If someone needs something, Lyzzy is the first to ask. She greets the patients with a pleasant hello on the way in and makes sure that they are seen in a timely fashion. She is also there to give them a congratulatory smile on the way out. She is dependable and highly competent.

Kate Walsh is the TLC Tysons Corner Office Manager and brings with her years of experience in the Eye Care industry, previously managing a region of sales reps for the eye care giant AMO. She has been a wonderful addition to our team and has brought professionalism and organization skills to our office. Kate likes to run a tight ship and that's what makes our center tick well. She is great at making sure that everything is running smoothly on a daily basis, and she has been instrumental in our internal marketing efforts and 'big picture' outlook for growth. We are proud and lucky to have her on board

Joan Reich is our Professional Relations Consultant, and has been working with me for many years. Joan is remarkably loyal and dedicated to her job, and has basically defined the job for others to follow. Joan handles all of our referring Doctor's needs, and makes sure that our affiliate network of Eye Care Professionals have all the tools necessary to make a Laser Vision referral. This is very important, and insures that the patient's care is highly coordinated between our center and the referring Doctor's offices. We certainly owe a great deal of appreciation to Joan as her efforts have helped build the largest and most loyal referral network of Doctors in the country!

Anne Railton-Andrews has lived in the Washingtonian area her entire life. Anne started out with TLC in it's Fairfax Center, then moved to the Reston Center, and has always been willing to go where needed to help out in Rockville or DC. She came to TLC Tysons in April and has been with TLC for almost ten years. She is always ready to serve the patients in any area they need help, whether it's scheduling their appointments, instructing them how to take their preoperative medications, applying for financing, or answering questions. Anne is newly married to John Andrews and she just let us know their exciting news that they are expecting a baby! Some of the greatest assets Anne brings to the team are her flexibility, wealth of experience, and her desire for the patients to have a great experience here at Tysons.
My name is Cindy O'Connor. I started in this field in 1978 in West Memphis Arkansas as a receptionist in an optometrist's office. From there, I became a technician in a practice in Vicksburg, Mississippi. My husband works for the government and after moving to Lafayette, Indiana, I went on to work in the ophthalmology field. I came to the Washington, DC area in 1990 and continued my work as a technician in ophthalmology and have been with TLC since the beginning in 1998. I most recently worked in our Reston office and came to work with Dr. Holzman earlier this spring. I have loved my transition and look forward to many more years of working here at TLC!
Dedication can be hard to find in employees these days, but this is not the case at the TLC laser eye surgery center. From offering the patient a warm greeting upon entering the office to giving them a hearty congratulations after surgery, the entire staff at TLC Laser Eye Center is fully dedicated to making the patient feel comfortable. They are also dedicated to making sure that every single detail of the data that is collected is scrutinized not once or twice, but at least three times before it is entered into the laser systems. Charts are meticulously policed for any warning signs that the patient may not be a perfect candidate. These tasks are taken very seriously and are handled by an extremely competent team of professionals.
The surgical team is tasked with handling the patients in the operating room as well as overseeing the laser settings and surgical protocols.

Maria Oettinger has been Dr. Holzman's right hand for 11 years now, and she embodies loyalty and dedication. Her attention to detail and incredible level of both competency and compassion make her the perfect surgical technician. Dr. Holzman feels blessed to have her in control of the operating room.
-
Jennifer Phung, another surgical technician, might be the most positive, upbeat, and do-it-all person Dr. Holzman has ever met! Her friendly, outgoing demeanor is infectious to all of the staffers, as well as the patients. She is always ready to provide a helping hand to make the procedure easier and the patient's day brighter.

Eleni Katsikes is a younger version of both Maria and Jennifer. Although Eleni hasn’t been with the team as long, she can handle all of the surgical and clinical tasks in the office easily, and does so with great competence and a friendly smile on her face. The staff and patients all enjoy spending time with Eleni. Joanne Vaughn is a native of Alabama, Joanne attended the University of Alabama. After moving to Northern Virginia, she worked with the Department of the Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery before concentrating on raising her family. After returning to the workforce, Joanne joined a large private optometry practice in Northern Virginia as an optometric technician for almost twenty years. As part of that practice, she served as the Laser Vision Coordinator, introducing patients to LASIK and PRK as laser vision correction was first becoming approved in the United States. Joanne was the primary liaison between the private practice and TLC, and she had PRK over 15 years ago. Given her long history with TLC, Joanne was excited about the opportunity to join Dr. Holzman and his TLC team in January 2011. Here, she can be found in our Tysons Corner and Gainesville locations serving as an ophthalmic technician and patient counselor.
