TLC Charlottesville Center Manager, Wendy Shortridge, wears many hats during her busy day. As center manager, Wendy ensures the smooth, daily operation of the center and also facilitates optimum communication between TLC and its area affiliates to provide patients with the ultimate LASIK experience. Having joined TLC in December 1998, Wendy is also the center’s Senior Surgical Technician. Her friendly, easy going manner instantly lets patients know they are in good hands. Outside of the office, Wendy is always on the go with either husband Carl, daughters Jordan and Caitlin or her westie, Jackson.
Adam Sweeney, OD
Dr. Adam Sweeney is the Clinical Director of TLC Charlottesville. He joined TLC in 2013, coming from private practice in Florida.
Dr. Sweeney graduated Summa Cum Laude from the State University of New York Geneseo in 2006 with a B.A. in Biology. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree with Honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2010.
To further his clinical knowledge, he completed a residency in Ocular Disease at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Dr. Sweeney has authored journal articles and presented posters at national conferences. He became a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2015.
Dr. Sweeney resides in Charlottesville with his wife and son. In their spare time, they enjoy hiking, trying new restaurants and playing with their dogs.
Terri is a surgical consultant at TLC Charlottesville. She and her family moved to the Charlottesville area in 2010. She has worked in the field of Ophthalmology for the past 10 years and has enjoyed transitioning into the field of refractive surgery. “Seeing the advancement in technology over the years has been incredible.”

A very diverse background of 7 years at Contel of Virginia in Merrifield, Virginia (back when landlines were the only option) and attended Northern Virginia Community College in Sterling majoring in Secretarial Sciences. Raised 4 children then was the Administrative Assistant for a national Inventory Service for 8 years. Moved to Ohio with family for 8 years while learning and studying canine training and dog grooming as a part time job of which I continue to groom dogs for friends and family. Worked in the hospitality industry at 2 prominent resorts for 3 years. Worked in the dental field for 1 year and attended Pharmacy Technician School in Sandusky, Ohio. Then accepted a position back in Portsmouth, Virginia at Alere Toxicology, Inc. in Administrative Sales for 2 years. Which then I was divinely brought to this amazing position at TLC.
Hobbies: Spending time with my husband, 7 kids, 4 grand kids, dogs, the beach and lots of music. Not necessarily in that order.
