Hi. I'm Jan Tyler, and I'm from Thurmont, Maryland. I started wearing glasses when I was in the fifth grade, and it was traumatic. I mean they weren't pretty. Then I wore glasses all through high school. Then when I turned 18, I got to buy my first pair of contacts, and things were working out. So glasses, thing of the past or only on Sundays. Contacts, fabulous.
Then we bought a horse farm, and every morning I'd be at the barn, and I'm mucking stalls, and I'm doing things, things are flying everywhere, into my contacts, and we're talking bedding, hay, and I thought, "Okay, there go the contacts. I have to wear glasses in the barn." Well, I could change back into contacts when I went in the house, but it was inconvenient. So it was glasses non-stop, 24/7. And my husband came up to me and said, "I want to see your eyes."
So, when I went to TLC, and I was so impressed. They run quite a lot of tests. You see about four or five people, each one have their own tasks. You don't feel like a cog in a wheel though, and that was surprising to me because I know I wasn't their first rodeo, but I didn't feel that way. I felt like I'm special. It was me, it's my eyes, and I felt wonderful. I felt confident.
Well, I met Dr. Holzman, that was the best part of it. I could ask the man who was going to cut on my eye, I could ask him the questions. So my biggest thing was, "How do you keep from blinking? What if I blink and screw you up?" And he said, "No, no, everything will be fine. You won't feel like blinking. It'll be great." I said, "Okay." That was my best question and I felt confident.
People had told me, "Oh yeah, you'll see as soon as you wake up." And it's true. It was amazing, and that was the day of surgery. And on the way home I wanted to peek and see signs and stuff like that, but I thought, "No, they said keep my eyes shut, go home, take a nap, when you wake up you'll feel 100% better." So I did, but after the two hours, when I woke up at home, I think I just infuriated by husband by going, "Ask me to read something. Ask me to read something. I can see all the way over there." And he's like, "Okay. I get it, Honey."
I would recommend Dr. Holzman to anyone who wants LASIK.
