What is presbyopia? Presbyopia is the natural condition that affects us all as we reach our 40s or early 50s. This causes the need for reading glasses as the focusing ability of the eye’s natural lens decreases with age.  The presbyopia solution we recommend for you depends upon a number of factors, including your age and the degree of presbyopia you have.  At your complimentary consultation at TLC, you will be recommended for whichever treatment that will give you the best results.  If you are likely to have Presbyopia we will first discuss monovision with you.  Monovision involves modifying the treatment in the non-dominant eye to improve your near vision.  Monovision correction is an option with either LASIK or PRK. Those who will benefit most from monovision treatment are those who wear glasses or contact lenses for distance as well as for reading. We also have a procedure called Conductive Keratoplasty or otherwise known as NearVision CK.  NearVision CK uses low energy radio waves to reshape the cornea and restore near vision.  CK is an alternative to the typical laser treatment.  NearVision CK uses low energy radio waves to reshape the cornea and restore near vision.  CK is very precise and it is a minimally invasive procedure.  If you are wearing a prescription for reading glasses know that there are treatment options for you! Come in and have a complimentary consultation and we can see if you are a candidate for correction for your presbyopia.
