In LASIK, after the laser has reshaped the cornea, the LASIK flap is carefully repositioned over the treatment area.  Next, Dr. Holzman will check for the presence of air bubbles, debris, and proper placement on the eye. The flap remains in position by natural adhesion until healing is completed.

Dr. Holzman gives you a course of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops. These drops are continued in the first two weeks following your surgery. We instruct patients to rest for the first three hours post procedure.  You will be given protective sleep goggles to prevent rubbing of the eyes when sleeping.

If you do accidentally move your flap, you are instructed to call us and come in to have the flap repositioned by Dr. Holzman.  Your vision will suddenly be blurry and you will have eye pain.  Once the LASIK flap is repositioned the discomfort will subside.

It is normal for patients to be afraid of moving the flap.  We do our best to teach our patients and prepare them for what to expect both before and after their LASIK procedure. The key for the patient is to remember to be gentle around your eyes.  No rubbing or swiping the eye.  You want to make sure that you do not let the tip of your eye drop bottles to touch the eyes.  Be careful and maintain your drop schedule to ensure proper healing and your best corrected vision.
