Tysons Corner is proud to announce that our Medical Director, Dr. Andrew Holzman, has been named an Intralase National Trainer by Abbott Medical Optics, the manufacturers of the Intralase laser.  As a National Trainer, Dr. Holzman will be mentoring new ophthalmologists as they perform their first 10 LASIK procedures.  He will guide them through these crucial first procedures so that they develop fine surgical skills and go on to have positive impacts on their future patients’ lives.

Having performed over 55,000 refractive procedures for those in the Northern Virginia – DC – Maryland and Charlottesville regions (and beyond … we just had a patient fly in from Denver, CO, to have his procedure done by Dr. Holzman!), Dr. Holzman is an obvious choice for mentoring those new to the LASIK field.  “Helping patients achieve their life goals through better vision has always been the driving force in my career,” Dr. Holzman said.  “Mentoring eye surgeons and passing along clinical pearls accumulated over years of successful practice will be a new rewarding challenge.”

Always an advocate of new technology, Dr. Holzman was one of the first LASIK surgeons in the industry to bring the Intralase laser to his patients.  LASIK using the Intralase laser, often referred to as blade-less or all-laser LASIK, is safer and more precise than the microkeratome blades that surgeons previously used.  With the ability to make thinner, more precise LASIK flaps, Dr. Holzman can now help patients who might have previously been non-candidates for LASIK.

Congratulations, Dr. Holzman!  Your Tysons Corner team is so proud of your accomplishment!
