Contoura™ Vision: A Personalized Topography-guided LASIK

Contoura™ Vision is a revolutionary breakthrough technology that offers topography-guided laser vision correction. Dr. Andrew E. Holzman is a leader in vision correction surgery and offers treatments with the Contoura™ Vision at his TLC Laser Eye Center in Washington, D.C. This amazing treatment can correct a myriad of visual errors and allows patients to see clear, sharp images without the need for corrective lenses. It is complementary to Wavefront-optmized LASIK treatment, which can provide outstanding and parallel results. Dr. Holzman will decide which option can achieve the best results for you.

Breakthrough Contoura™ Vision

Contoura Vision is a topography-guided LASIK treatment designed to provide surgeons the ability to perform more personalized laser procedures for patients with nearsightedness, or nearsightedness with astigmatism, based on the unique corneal topography of each eye.

Contoura™ Vision ensures the longest-lasting results with precise measurements of the eye to guide the procedure. This treatment can correct myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism by reshaping the surface of the cornea, which changes the way that light enters the eye. Contoura™ Vision can also eliminate aberrations on the surface of the cornea, which further improves vision.

Contoura™ Vision combines corneal measurements with your eyeglass prescription to guide your procedure and provide your eyes with an improved focusing surface.

Contoura™ Vision can also identify and record any corneal imperfections. The laser measures the exact curvature of your cornea, and uses this data to customize your surgery. Contoura™ Vision combines corneal measurements with your eyeglass prescription to guide your procedure and provide your eyes with an improved focusing surface. When used in conjunction with our WaveLight® EX500 laser software, you can expect the most accurate laser vision correction results.

Contoura™ Vision - Topography-guided Laser Vision Correction is also extremely reliable. In clinical testing, this approach to treatment was effective for over 90 percent of patients.

100% customized vision correction

The procedure itself is a type of LASIK that reshapes the cornea to more favorably reflect light. The customization takes place in the preoperative planning process. The diagnosing capabilities of Contoura™ Vision can identify tiny imperfections in the corneal tissue that require modification to improve your vision. Dr. Holzman will evaluate information from the topographer, the manifest refraction, and the wavelight aberrometer to design a unique treatment plan for you.

Clinical Studies on Contoura™ Vision

The personalized topography-guided LASIK procedure Contoura Vision has completely changed the way ophthalmologist define “quality of vision”, which is sharpness of vision combined with the presence of visual symptoms. Clinical studies have proven that, 12 months after surgery:
  • 30% of eyes achieved better, unhindered visual acuity, than with glasses or other visual aids prior to surgery
  • 92.6% of eyes achieved 20/20 vision or better
  • 64.8% achieved 20/16 vision or better
  • 34.4% achieved 20/12.5 or better

Additionally, personalized topography-guided LASIK procedure Contoura Vision provided dramatic reductions in symptoms associated with LASIK, such as:

  • Glare
