Had my surgery Wednesday and was immediately seeing so much better. As they say, the first 48 hours it fluctuates, bit no pain nor discomfort and my vision is stabilizing with amazing clarity! Dr. Holzman kept me cool, calm, and collected the whole time, and it was so fast you wouldn’t even know it happened. Very appreciative I finally went ahead and did it!

Advanced Laser Vision Correction
State-Of-The-Art Eye Surgery

Dr. Holzman offers some of the most advanced PRK and LASIK surgical procedures in the Washington, DC, area. He uses the latest systems available to enhance patient safety and comfort.

Mapping Your Corneas

A detailed map of the cornea improves LASIK results. That’s why we use Wavefront technology, the Oculus Pentacam and Alcon Vario system. Dr. Holzman also employs the  Optovue Avanti OCT for the most thorough corneal screening techniques. These tools allow us to determine candidacy and treat higher order aberrations.

Screening for Eye Problems

Dry eye and thin corneas can jeopardize LASIK results and overall eye health. We use the Oculus PENTACAM to measure corneal thickness and shape. We will also discuss your medical history and eye conditions directly with you, combining technology with human connection.

Bladeless LASIK

In the past, a physical tool called a microkeratome was used to create the flap in the cornea for LASIK. Thanks to the Alcon FS200, we can safely create a corneal flap using a laser. All-laser LASIK reduces infection risk and also further minimizes the chances of human error.

Computer-Guided Laser Systems

We use some of the latest excimer lasers and laser systems to perform LASIK surgery, including the Wavelight® FS200, the Wavelight® EX500, and the Allegretto Wave™ laser system. Tracked and guided by computer, these lasers offer precise and safe vision correction results.

The Forefront of Care

As part of our commitment to patients, Dr. Holzman and our team will continue to use the latest technology in refractive surgery and eye care. We will happily share information on these new eye surgery systems and their benefits to patients on our laser vision correction surgery blog.

Laser Vision Correction Procedures

With a focus on comfort, care, and safety, our offices in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia offer some of the most effective laser eye surgery options for your vision. We will develop a custom treatment plan that enhances your eyesight and quality of life.

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is designed to treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. A thin flap is created in the topmost layer of the cornea (the epithelium), allowing the surgeon to reshape the cornea and improve the passage of light through the eyes.

PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a laser eye surgery often used as a LASIK alternative. It is also designed to treat near sightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Rather than creating a flap, the epithelium is removed to reshape the cornea. The epithelial tissue naturally returns as patients heal.

Presbyopia is a form of farsightedness that occurs during middle age as part of the natural aging process. MonoVision involves correcting one eye for near vision and the other eye for distance vision. This allows patients to see nearby and distant objects without the aid of reading glasses, bifocals, or contact lenses.

I had LASIK done with Dr. Holzman and it was breeze. Dr. Holzman spoke to me before procedure to give an idea about the whole process and tips on how not to be nervous. He also spoke to me during LASIK, and after it was done, I asked myself, “Is that it?” So if you’re thinking about LASIK, go to Dr. Holzman. Icing on the cake is Dr. Holzman will personally text you to see how you’re doing after LASIK. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars.
