Lasik and PRK are absolutely safe procedures. In fact, recent studies have shown that both of those procedures, PRK and Lasik, are safer than wearing contact lenses. So if you are a risk-averse patient wearing contacts, you might want to consider stopping your contact lenses and considering laser vision correction. There are three things that make laser vision correction very safe. It’s the advanced technology that’s available today, the experience of the surgeon and the laser center that you’re at, and the fact that we will not operate on you unless you are an absolutely perfect candidate for the procedure. So we will turn away at least 20% of the patients we see, because we deem them something other than low risk. We will only operate on you if we know you’re going to do well.
