Dr. Keith Smithson is an established optometrist who frequently refers his patients to LASIK doctor Andrew E. Holzman. He highly recommends him for laser eye surgery procedures. Dr. Holzman and his team are dedicated to working with your optometrist to ensure that you receive the best possible treatment for your condition.
My name is Dr. Keith Smithson. I’m in practice outside of Washington, D.C., northern Virginia. I’ve been the Director of Visual Performance for the Washington Nationals, Team Optometrist for the Washington Redskins, Washington Wizards, Washington Spirit, and the Visual Performance Consultant for the Washington Capitals. You know, there’s a lot of things that we do and use our eyes for day to day which are very dynamic in nature. We drive on eight-lane highways, we work on multiple computer screens, we have environments that involve going inside and outside, so we’re looking at maximizing every aspect of that vision. In my direct referrals to TLC it’s simply because I feel like they’re going to do the best job. I like the idea, the fact that someone can do something like laser procedure at TLC. My number one priority is that patient who’s sitting in my chair, and trust is everything in those relationships, and we’ve had wonderful results for many, many years simply because I think we’re working with the best of the best. For me, this is all about making the right decision and I lay it on the table. We talk about the fact that look, here are the options that you have, here are the pluses and minuses of both, here are the surgical risks and complication rates, this is why I think it might be right for your or might not be right for you. You know, I say, “Look, let’s be smart about this. Let’s talk about the technology differences and why we use a surgical group like TLC, and Dr. Holzman specifically.” So that’s something we go into as well as what you’re paying for is not just the procedure, but the procedure done right, the outcome that you expect, and a lifetime commitment behind it. And again, if this was your mom or dad, that’s the analogy I use. Would you shop around and call heart surgeons and say, “Who’s going to do it for $500 less? Who gives me a warranty on my heart surgery?” This is a surgical procedure, so let’s go after it, let’s get the best thing possible as far as the surgical procedure itself, the best experience possible as far as the follow-up care, and also join into a nationwide network of doctors. And for me, that’s a big selling point of TLC.
